Football is making a comeback at Texas Wesleyan after a 75-year hiatus, and football players like De'Marcus Nixon are excited to be part of the new tradition. Starting a new athletic program allows more students the opportunity to get their "Smaller. Smarter." education from a top-tier private university.
Nixon is a freshman dual business and mass communication major and expects to graduate in May 2020.
Why Texas Wesleyan?
"I came to Texas Wesleyan because I wanted to be a part of football history and receive a degree from one of the top schools in Texas."
What do you like most about TXWES?
"I like the small class sizes and the help I get from the Academic Success Center."
How has Texas Wesleyan had a positive influence in your life?
"Wesleyan has influenced my life in a positive way by improving my work ethic off the football field, which has gone to another level. Also, meeting lifetime friends from other countries has shown me there are places I can travel in the world and not be a stranger."
North Texas Giving Day is on Sept. 14 and is a day for the North Texas community to come together and support their area charities and non-profit organizations. When you give on Sept. 14, you're directly supporting the Wesleyan Fund and important university initiatives. This year, you even have the option to make your pledge a week early from Sept. 7-13.
