Tammy Evans-Mitchell has been selected by Texas Wesleyan University to join the Office of Marketing & Communications as the new public relations and communications manager.
With 15 years of experience in strategic corporate communications, media relations, stakeholder management, crisis communication and social media communications, Tammy brings an in-depth knowledge of the public relations and communications field to this role. She is also well versed in the education field having spent ten years in various communications and marketing roles for Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD, a K-12 public school district in north Texas, serving students on 28 campuses. She also has ten years working as an independent contractor in the social marketing and personal brand management realm.
Evans-Mitchell received a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication studies with a minor in Spanish from Texas State University and a Master of Arts degree in communication studies from the University of North Texas. She is a certified public educator and has spent time in the classroom as a high school speech communications teacher and an adjunct professor at Tarrant County Community College teaching public speaking and organizational communications.
“I am excited to join the TXWES team and get back to my school public relations roots. It was important for me to find an institution that values education and has an exceptional story to share. There are so many exciting things happening at Texas Wesleyan and I am honored to be a part of the marketing and communications team that gets to share the TXWES story, vision and future,” said Evans-Mitchell.
“Tammy’s expertise in educational public relations and her experience in crisis communications and social media management, along with her get-after-it attitude and approach, made her the perfect fit for our next public relations and communications manager,” Shannon Lamberson, associate vice president of marketing and communications, said. “Tammy is going to help us continue to push our Smaller. Smarter. story.”
Tammy and her husband Cooper have four children: Kaycee (13), Karsyn (11), Kyler (10) and Blakelee (7). When they are not running around to dance, football, soccer, gymnastics, track, golf, volleyball and basketball games and practices, they enjoy doing absolutely nothing and being at home. They know the moments of down time are exceedingly rare with involved kids, but they recognize these hectic days and moments are fleeting. One day they will miss the chaos of activities and are hopeful their kids will join the RAMily in the future.
