This academic year has been a busy one for the facilities department as they have tackled multiple enhancement projects with the use of building endowment funds while also continuing to maintain and operate the buildings.
Enhancements we have done to our HVAC systems include replacing the rooftop unit for the first floor of Ann Waggoner Hall and replacing the DX split systems in the Dan Waggoner Annex. Facilities has also added outlets and circuits at the PUMC, replaced electrical equipment at Schollmaier and installed a new power pole at McFadden.
The endowments have also allowed us to make some aesthetic improvements to our buildings. We have replaced carpets at Ann Waggoner Hall, which came with the task of moving nine pianos, and Dan Waggoner Hall. Aesthetic improvements at West Village have included patching and painting rooms and trimming the trees in the courtyard.
Building endowment funds are specifically raised, usually during major construction or renovation, for the upkeep of a building. Once the endowment matures, then it can be used to replace aging systems.
