With the pandemic raging on, recycling and sustainability initiatives have taken a backseat in many operations across the U.S. Reusable items such as cups and bags weren’t as feasible as stricter health standards were adopted.
Whereas other companies were losing ground in their recycling processes, Texas Wesleyan managed to maintain and even improve the recycling diversion rate over the course of the year. In the spring, we were diverting around 5% of our waste to recycling. By the end of the year, we were seeing diversion rates around 8% of our waste stream. That is the highest diversion rate since we began tracking our recycling materials.
That success speaks volumes to how committed our RAMily is to recycling and sustainability initiatives. Way to go, Rams!
