Please join the CETL staff at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21 to celebrate Nakia Pope, Ph.D., and his service as the director of CETL and QEP for Texas Wesleyan. He will be joining the University of Texas at Arlington.

Dr. Pope joined Wesleyan in October 2012. During this time he has lead the CETL team in providing professional development for faculty and staff. He has lead workshops in critical thinking, student engagement, project based learning and game elements in the classroom.

As QEP Director, Dr. Pope handled the implementation and assessment of the strategic university initiative designed to increase student critical thinking ability.

During his time at Wesleyan, the CETL team presented on several topics including the gamification and faculty development international webinar sponsored by the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative. Additionally, the CETL team’s presentation on this topic won a “Best in Track” award at the SLOAN-C Emerging Technologies Conference in 2014.

The CETL also received recognition from the 25th annual International Conference on Teaching and Learning in 2014 for being an exemplary teaching and learning center.

We will certainly miss Dr. Pope, and wish him all of the best in his new endeavors.
