The Leadership Academy at Como Elementary—part of a new partnership between TXWES and Fort Worth ISD—is in the spotlight. The Ellen DeGeneres Show featured Como for the turnaround the campus has made in recent years.
Como caught DeGeneres’ attention with music videos in which students rap about the positive changes. In honor of the hard work of students and staff, DeGeneres presented Como with a $50,000 donation from Cheerios, to go toward the campus’s food pantry and the purchase of student laptops.

The Leadership Academy Network, designed to maintain and grow student success, reflects the mission of the TXWES School of Education to meet the challenges of instruction and learning in the 21st century. A dedicated student teacher program will allow TXWES students to prepare for their careers in innovative classroom settings. Read more on the announcement here.
