Each year, the Alumni Association offers scholarships to legacy students (students who are family of TXWES alumni). Funds raised by the Alumni Association throughout the year help support these scholarships. Read more about one of the five deserving students who received the alumni scholarship for the 2022-23 school year. 

Aiden Howerton is a biology major with an English minor who will graduate in 2025. He played baseball his freshman year, but has since decided to leave the sport in order to pursue his dreams in dentistry. In the future, Aiden hopes to have his own dental practice.

Aiden chose Texas Wesleyan because of his long-time family history with the University. His parents met here as students, and his grandfather was a former athletic director and basketball coach. In addition to this rich connection, both of Aiden’s grandmothers graduated from TXWES, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins! Talk about your “RAMily!” Another reason he chose Texas Wesleyan was the small, tight-knit community. “I love being able to know my professors and ask them for help whenever I need it. I also love being able to see familiar faces on campus. I feel very welcomed here by all of the students and faculty. The staff here go out of their way to help people, and I love that about this school,” Aiden said.

Aiden is a member of the American Chemical Society, and loves to spend time in the library playing Uno with friends. He explained that TXWES has helped him overcome insecurities and reassured him, that with the help of others, he can reach his goals. Aiden said, “[TXWES] has helped me become more social and meet new people. It’s an incredibly important skill that I will definitely use in my career. My favorite thing about being a student here at TXWES is the people. This school has such a strong community around it and the people really love this school just as much as I do.”
