Biology Honor Society Dominates Regional Convention
Texas Wesleyan’s Sigma Theta Chapter of Beta Beta Beta biology honor society won the Outstanding Chapter Award in District 2 at the South-Central Regional Convention, held Saturday, March 31, at the University of Oklahoma Biological Station on Lake Texoma.
The award recognized the achievements of the students in the competition. Emily Hawkins won first place, Tuan Nguyen won second place, and Zachary Hillberry won third in the poster competition. The students will move on to National Convention in San Juan, Puerto Rico, May 16-20.
“I think this says we’ve instituted research as an integral element of the biology curriculum, and it’s paid off,” Bruce Benz, professor of biology, said. “We’re teaching individuals how to think for themselves.”
