08.30.2022 | By:

The Texas Association of Broadcast Educators (TABE) elected Associate Professor of Mass Communication Dr. Ngozi Akinro as President at its spring conference, with Akinro assuming the position this fall.

The association represents the interests of professors and educators who teach broadcasting courses and audio/visuals at universities and colleges across Texas.

Since joining the association in 2017, Akinro has served as 2nd vice president and vice president. In her previous roles, Akinro was instrumental in growing the association's presence on social media and increasing membership across Texas through an outreach program she led. She also worked to increase K-12 audio/visual educators' engagement with the association. She believes that the collaboration will be beneficial to current and future broadcasting students and programs.

With her team of executives, she aims to continue to grow the association, increase membership benefits and build an engaging community of broadcast and multimedia educators across both higher education and K-12 institutions in Texas. She looks forward to growing collaboration and sharing knowledge between K-12 audio/visual programs and college broadcasting programs.

Dr. Akinro currently teaches and manages the broadcast and video production classes at Texas Wesleyan and is also a faculty advisor for the Rambler Media Group, Texas Wesleyan's student media outlet, advising multimedia and broadcast content production.

She will serve as president of the association for a year.
