Hold on to your Santa hat - Christmas trees are coming to West Library
West Library’s annual Christmas Tree Decorating Contest kicks of Nov. 1, and this year we have 75 free trees available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Pick up your free mini-Christmas tree at the Circulation Desk Nov. 1-11, and bring it back with your themed decorations by Nov. 18 to display and decorate the stacks.
This year we have three theme categories:
- Red, White, and/or Green
- Blue & Gold
- Metallic (Silver, Gold, Copper, etc.)
Judging for best theme and decoration will be on Dead Day, Dec. 3. After that, you have the option to take your tree home or donate to the silent auction. There will be a minimum bid of $10, and all proceeds are given to the Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County.
Is there a prize for winning? You betcha! Gift Cards will be awarded to first and second prize in each category, and there will also be a prize for the donated tree that auctions for the highest price.
Silent Auction benefiting Meals of Wheels will run from Dec. 3 through Dec. 5 at 1 p.m. Winners will be notified by phone and/or email. Any tree not paid for by Dec. 8 at 1 p.m. will be re-awarded to the next highest bidder. Trees not donated must be picked up between Dec. 5-10.
