'Tis the season for the 4th annual Christmas tree decorating contest. West Library’s tree decorating contest kicks off Nov. 1, and this year we have 50 free trees available on a first come, first served basis.

Pick up your free mini-Christmas tree at the Circulation Desk Nov. 1-18, and bring it back with your themed decorations by Monday, Nov. 28 to display in the library.

This year’s decoration categories are: Christmas Tree Blue and Gold Winner 2015

  • Traditional Christmas
  • Wesleyan Tradition
  • Non-Traditional

Trees will be on display in the West Library Reference area.  Judging will take place by three independent judges.  All trees will remain anonymous until the winners are announced at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov 29.  You may pick up your tree or donate it to be auctioned.

Is there a prize for winning? You betcha! Two prizes will be awarded in each category and a special prize for the overall most creative tree.

This year there will be a live auctioning of the trees!  In a celebration on the first floor of the Library on Nov. 29 at 1:45 p.m., the awards will be announced.  There will be cookies, cocoa, a visit from Santa and a photo booth.  Joe Brown will be the official auctioneer so it’s sure to be entertaining!  Each tree will have a beginning bid of $10 and all proceeds will go to Tarrant County Meals On Wheels.

A fun time is guaranteed for all!
