Back to School: 5 buzz-worthy things you need to know

08.15.2016 | By:

Welcome back, Rams! It is a great time to be on campus with new programs and campus improvements in the works. Check out these 5 new, buzz-worthy things happening this fall.

1. Football touches down

After a 75-year timeout, football is back at Texas Wesleyan. Head Football Coach Joe Prud’homme and his recruitment class of more than 75 football players will be on the campus mall from 2–4:30 p.m. on Sept. 6 for the team’s first practice. Come cheer on your Rams and watch history in the making. Spectators welcome!

2. The WEE is coming back

By popular demand, the north side of the Baker Building is being transformed back into the West Express Eatery (WEE). This favorite student diner for burgers, fries, sandwiches, burritos and more, features a full grill, expanded seating and yes, TVs. The WEE is scheduled to be open late August.

3. Go Greek

No, we’re not talking about yogurt. We’re talking about building lifelong friendships, developing leadership skills and making an impact in our community. This year, Student Life has streamlined the Greek Life recruitment process, making it easier for you to find a sorority or fraternity on campus that is right for you. Register for recruitment online at txwes.edu/gogreek.

4. #NailedIt! Campus improvements keep coming

There are so many improvement projects on campus that we can hardly keep up.  New emergency call boxes, a new intramurals field, renovations to West Village, a new weight room for student-athletes, new classrooms and dining areas – the list goes on. Over the last four years, Texas Wesleyan has spent more than $23 million sprucing up campus – and it shows. Up next: A University Center at the heart of campus. Details coming in October.

5. News U can Use
