Travis Smith, financial analyst at Texas Wesleyan University was honored with the Staff Hero award during the 2020 Vision Town Hall at the Baker Building on Tuesday, Nov. 13.
During his time at TXWES, Smith has developed various financial analyses including one for athletic programs that has helped the Board of Trustees have a better understanding of the financial impact of athletics on campus.
But most importantly, he has made a major impact in helping students that come to the Finance and Administration Office looking for solutions.
“Travis is recognized for his outstanding customer service attitude,” said Donna Nance, vice president of finance and administration. “Travis is always first to step in and assist the student, whether that is explaining a process or walking them to a particular office.”
Smith says he was surprised when he found out he was being honored.
“I was incredibly shocked. It meant a lot to me,” Smith said. Working at Texas Wesleyan under Donna [Nance] and Amanda [Hatcher] is amazing and having that kind of support has helped make me as successful as I am today.”
The Staff Hero Award was created in 2015 as a way to honor staff members who go above and beyond to support the University’s 2020 Vision strategic plan. The Staff Hero is presented by President Frederick G. Slabach during 2020 Town Hall Meetings.
