David Monge named coordinator for student organizations and Greek life

David Monge has joined Texas Wesleyan as the coordinator for student organizations and Greek life. In his role, Monge will support student organizations, with particular focus in Greek organizational and community development.

Monge has many years of experience in Greek affairs, particularly around initiatives concerning recruitment, member development, retention and fostering inclusive environments. Monge has also facilitated educational workshops on risk-management and recruitment on both local and national levels. Monge has been a key player in the development and execution of Greek assessment initiatives, having served on evaluation teams for several universities.

“We are extremely excited to have David join the team. In the short time he has been here, he has already enhanced the services offered from our office and started to make great connections with students,” Eugene Frier, assistant dean of students, said.

As a member of a national fraternity, Monge spent all four of his undergraduate years on the executive board of his local chapter, as well as two terms on the executive board that governs all fraternal activities at Eastern Michigan University. Through his work at EMU, Monge was awarded New Initiate of the Year and Greek Man of the Year, among others. Immediately following his degree, Monge was chosen to serve as a chapter advisor for his organization, despite the two-year moratorium usually placed on recent graduates by his organization’s national headquarters. He was honored as the 2013-2014 Chapter Advisor of the Year.

Monge spent an additional two years in new student programs at Columbia College Chicago, working with community building and service programs for first-year Columbia students.

Monge has a bachelor’s degree in public relations from Eastern Michigan University and a master’s in education with an emphasis on higher education administration from Loyola University, Chicago.
