Texas Wesleyan to Host First-Generation Celebration Day on November 6
Texas Wesleyan University will host its first annual First-Generation Celebration Day on Thursday, November 6, from Noon to 2:30 p.m. in the Martin University Center. The event will bring together students, local employers, faculty and staff in recognition of our first-generation college students while also highlighting the resources available to help them succeed.
The celebration begins with an Employer Networking Luncheon from Noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Martin Center Ballroom. Students will have the opportunity to connect directly with local employers in a supportive and engaging environment, gaining insight into professional pathways while building valuable networking skills. A complimentary lunch will be provided during this session. Space is extremely limited, and participants must RSVP in advance to secure a seat.
Following the luncheon, the day continues with the First-Gen Resource Fair from 1 to 2 p.m. on the first floor of the Martin University Center. The fair will feature local community organizations and campus partners who provide resources for academic, personal, and professional success. Students are encouraged to stop by the official TXWES Q&A table to ask questions, gather information and learn about opportunities that support first-generation students throughout their college journey.
First-Generation Celebration Day is part of a larger national movement that honors the success of first-generation college students. Texas Wesleyan is proud to be recognized as a FirstGen Forward Institution, a designation that reflects the University’s ongoing commitment to improving outcomes for students who are the first in their families to pursue higher education.
“This celebration shines a spotlight on the determination and resilience of our first-generation students,” said Dr. Gary Stout, Vice President of Student Affairs. “By connecting them with employers, resources and our RAMily’s strong support system, we are reinforcing the message that they belong here, and that their success is a shared priority for the entire TXWES community.”
The University invites all students to take part in the celebration, whether by attending the luncheon, visiting the resource fair or simply showing support for the first-generation community.
