The Hope 4 Kids Foundation held its annual Back-to-School event on Saturday, Sept. 9 at Sycamore Park. The event provided assistance and free resources including school supplies, haircuts, boxes of food, mammograms, voter registration and access to affordable health insurance, dental care and mental health providers to the Polytechnic community.

Students and faculty from History's Honor Society, Phi Alpha Theta, as well as the Black Student Association (BSA) volunteered at the event. Hope 4 Kids Founder Rose Braziel, who was on hand for the event, said that growing up in a household of 12, she "didn’t have much financially, but [was] taught love, respect and kindness and I can personally remember it having an effect on how much effort and influence my teachers would invest in encouraging me I had the capabilities of becoming or doing anything with my life."  She hopes to not only help students but also inspire others to serve. 

Texas Wesleyan volunteers were assigned the task of unloading pallets of donated food items and separating dry and canned goods, as well as fresh produce, into hundreds of boxes that were distributed to people from the community.  

The Hope 4 Kids Foundation seeks to ensure kids have a positive and enriching experience when the school bell rings, putting them on the path to success. The Texas Wesleyan community is proud to have supported this goal. For more information about Hope 4 Kids, visit hope-4-kids.org.
