Mark your calendars! Texas Wesleyan University’s Friends of Wesleyan Music invite you to an undoubtedly phenomenal chamber concert at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 8. The performance will be livestreamed from Nicholas Martin Hall.

Instructor of Music Keith Critcher is the artistic director of the newly formed Vivo Chamber Ensemble featuring Carelle Flores, lyric soprano; Juan Flores, violinist; Lizzy White, cellist and of course Keith Critcher himself as their collaborative pianist.

The concert is the third in the Recitals on the 8ths series (March, April, and May). Mr. Critcher put together this series of recitals this semester for Texas Wesleyan with the theme Emotions, Excursions and Expressions. Mr. Critcher states how grateful he is to all the talented faculty who participated in the previous recitals. Expressions is his own performance recital with dear friends who are exceptional musicians. The concert repertoire includes

  • Arias by Handel, Bellini, and Massenet
  • Piazzolla’s Le Grand Tango for Cello and Piano
  • A unique three-movement chamber trio of three different composers: the first movement by Schumann; the second movement by Mendelssohn, and the final third movement by Brahms
  • Concludes with all four musicians performing the obscure but exhilarating Romances by Mikhalii Ippolitov-Ivanov.

This will be a delightful recital of virtuosic artistry not to miss!
