GSA's overnight event raises awareness, supplies for homeless LGBTQ youth

09.29.2014 | By:

Texas Wesleyan's Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) successfully raised awareness for local, displaced LGBTQ homeless by hosting an overnight campout on the campus mall Friday, Sept. 26. Nearly 50 participants brought donations for The Promise House, an LGBTQ-friendly emergency youth shelter located in Dallas.

GSA officers Katina Hodkinson, Allie Pizana and Dmitri Nelson, along with their advisor Rudy Leonard, served a pancake breakfast Saturday morning to show gratitude for the support of those in attendance.

Because of the success of this year's event, the GSA plans to make the Night of Homelessness an annual tradition on the Wesleyan campus.
