Associate Professor of Spanish and Director of the Spanish Program Dr. Amy Bell received a Sam Taylor Fellowship Award from the United Methodist Church's General Board of Education and Ministry. Sam Taylor's will set aside income from a portion of his estate to fund continuing education and development of faculty members at United Methodist-related colleges and universities in Texas. "I'm honored and excited to receive this award and look forward to gaining new knowledge that will help me provide more career opportunities for Spanish majors and minors," said Dr. Bell.
Dr. Bell will use her award to complete a Court Interpreter Certification, with the goal of developing a Court Interpreter Certification course at Texas Wesleyan.
"Dr. Bell's Sam Taylor Fellowship is an outstanding accomplishment that will allow her to become a certified translator and develop an online translation certificate for Wesleyan students who are native Spanish speakers," said Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences Dr. Ricardo Rodriguez. "We are truly proud of her accomplishment."
