Texas Wesleyan’s Entrepreneurship Club greeted guest speakers, Walker Lutringer and Marco Johnson from Accelerate DFW Thursday, Oct. 10 to inform students of Startup Weekend Fort Worth.
Startup Weekend is a self-sufficient weekend dedicated to giving entrepreneurs what they need to start a business. The weekend starts off Friday night with group work and idea sharing. All ideas are heard, but there are only 60 seconds for each pitch.
Entrepreneurs will be given feedback and will have the ability to network with other like-minded individuals. The best concepts usual last while sometimes adopting other notions into the original plan. Typically, attendees start with an idea and map it out throughout the 54-hour duration.
Startup Weekend Fort Worth runs Nov. 9-11 and is located at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, 3500 Camp Bowie Blvd., Fort Worth, TX 76107.
Ticket prices are $99 but there is a special early bird price of $50. Students of Texas Wesleyan can receive a discounted rate of $25. Rooms and all meals are paid with the ticket price, but students must provide their own transportation.
Sophomore finance major, JaKyron Joseph was planning to create his own business and now he knows where he can begin.
“It was an insightful presentation that held great value. I think the opportunity will be very fulfilling.” Joseph said.
