Hector Quintanilla, Ph.D., has stepped into the role of interim vice president of academic affairs and provost for Texas Wesleyan University.
“My top priority is to support Texas Wesleyan’s mission by ensuring students have a clear pathway to a timely graduation and are prepared to excel in the careers of their choice,” Dr. Quintanilla said. “I’m honored to serve in this role and am looking forward to working with the deans of our five schools to enhance the vision and direction of Texas Wesleyan’s academic programs.”
Dr. Quintanilla will serve as interim VP for academic affairs and provost through May 2021. Dr. Allen Henderson, Ph.D., former VP for academic affairs and provost, will serve as an advisor to Dr. Quintanilla through the fall of 2019, before returning to the faculty as a full-time professor of psychology. A national search for a permanent VP of academic affairs and provost will begin in Fall 2020.
Dr. Quintanilla joined the Texas Wesleyan faculty in 1995. He was elevated to interim dean of the School of Business Administration in 2006, and then to dean in 2007. During his service as dean of the School of Business Administration, Dr. Quintanilla led the school to achieving accreditation from AACSB, the premier business school accreditor in the world. He also launched Texas Wesleyan’s thriving online MBA program in 2017 and has overseen curriculum and program enhancements for the business school’s undergraduate and graduate offerings.
“Dr. Quintanilla is an outstanding leader who is dedicated to Texas Wesleyan and our mission,” President Frederick G. Slabach, said. “I’m looking forward to working with him as interim VP of academic affairs and provost and know he will make a positive impact on Texas Wesleyan University as a whole, just as he has made a positive impact on our School of Business.”
