Texas Wesleyan University is pleased to announce Hector Quintanilla, Ph.D., as the new vice president of academic affairs and provost. The selection comes after the completion of a national search which began last fall.
“I am honored to serve as provost and by the trust placed in me by the president, the university executive team, faculty and students," said Quintanilla. "My goal is for the provost’s office to provide vision, leadership, and support to the faculty and students as we work together to provide an engaged, high quality, high impact, liberal arts-based education.”
Since 1995, Dr. Quintanilla has served the University in a variety of roles. After starting as a faculty member, he was elevated to interim dean of the School of Business Administration in 2006. He was named dean in 2007. Since August 2019, Dr. Quintanilla has served as interim vice president for academic affairs and provost.
“Dr. Quintanilla was the superior candidate from a very talented pool of 65 applicants and three highly qualified finalists,” said Texas Wesleyan University President Frederick G. Slabach. “He has shown a talent for collaborative, innovative and effective positive change including prestigious AACSB accreditation for the SOBA, the design and implementation of the online MBA program, and creation of the University's Centralized Advising Center, among many other important initiatives. I am delighted that he will bring his decades of experience, commitment, knowledge, and innovation to the position.”
