Texas Wesleyan’s School of Education is getting statewide praise for how it prepares its students for a successful career in the classroom.

In recognition of a high first-test pass rate among students, the Texas State Board for Educator Certification placed TXWES in its Rigorous and Robust Preparation category. TXWES certification candidates who took their first exams between September 2018 and August 2019 had a 95% pass rate.

Texas Wesleyan was one of 15 educator preparation programs out of 129 across Texas to be recognized for how well it prepares its students. Other programs that made the list include Baylor University, Southern Methodist University and the University of Dallas.

“Our expert professors pride themselves on developing truly effective educators who not only teach, but lead,” said Carlos Martinez, Ph.D., dean of the Texas Wesleyan School of Education. “Combine that with our co-teaching model, which allows for more experience than just traditional student-teaching, and you have the next generation of teachers who are ready to inspire on the first day of class.”
