The weather may be cooling down, but Texas Wesleyan sure isn’t. The university continues to thrive, with enrollment reaching new heights in 2024. For the fourth consecutive year, the university has experienced a surge in degree-seeking students, breaking school records for both domestic student enrollment and total credit hours enrolled.
This year, a remarkable 2,532 students chose Texas Wesleyan, including 1,742 degree-seeking undergraduates, 693 graduate students and 97 non-degree students. Undergraduate enrollment has increased by 4.5% compared to 2023 and by a substantial 25% since fall 2020.
Of the more than 2,500 enrolled, 517 are first-year students who hail from seven different states and 11 different countries, further underscoring the university’s growing reputation and global appeal.
“Texas Wesleyan’s Smaller. Smarter. environment fosters a sense of community that is unparalleled,” said Dr. Emily Messer, Texas Wesleyan University President. “Our tight-knit campus offers students more time to get to know their professors, fellow students and staff. This personalized approach to education empowers students to reach their full potential and achieve their goals; and I’m excited to see our students flourish.”
One of the key factors driving Texas Wesleyan's success is its commitment to fostering a strong sense of community. The university's smaller class sizes and dedicated faculty members allow students to build meaningful relationships and receive personalized attention. This approach empowers students to reach their full potential and succeed in their chosen fields.
“This continued degree-seeking enrollment growth is a testament to Texas Wesleyan's commitment to providing an exceptional educational experience,” said Alan Liebrecht, vice president of enrollment, marketing and communications. “Our dedication to fostering a supportive and engaging campus environment, coupled with the outstanding efforts of our faculty, staff and students, has made us a top choice for prospective students.”
Texas Wesleyan's dedication to academic excellence is also evident in its ongoing campus improvements and innovative programs. Recent projects, such as the completion of the track and field and the construction of the Moritz Field House, plus the updates to the third-floor science labs in McFadden Science Center, have significantly enhanced the student experience. Additionally, the university has secured funding for initiatives such as the Engage Studio, a specialized track in trauma care for nurse anesthesia students, and enhanced teacher residency program, demonstrating its commitment to providing cutting-edge educational opportunities.
“The funding we receive from our community is more than just financial support; it’s an investment in the future of our students,” said Michele Boillotat, vice president of advancement. "The support of our donors has allowed us to create a learning environment that fosters innovation, creativity and academic excellence. We’re grateful for the opportunity to empower our students to reach their full potential.”
