Athletic Excellence — $17,810,000
Comprising one-third of the student body, student-athletes are an integral part of the Texas Wesleyan campus, and intercollegiate athletic programs are a vital component of the educational experience at Texas Wesleyan.
Texas Wesleyan Athletics is a tool to help student-athletes create better lives through higher education. As a proud member of the NAIA and the Sooner Athletic Conference, our student-athletes deserve the best education — and the best facilities to match.
Athletic Stadium
One of the University's highest priorities is the construction of a new stadium on campus. An athletic stadium will provide a facility for football practices and games, expand the track and field program, be an alternate site for soccer and serve as a venue for Fort Worth ISD games and campus-wide events. Equally important, a new athletic stadium will provide economic revitalization to the University and the surrounding neighborhood by attracting event attendance to Polytechnic Heights, which will benefit businesses and those living in the Poly neighborhood. The stadium project would be accomplished in three phases:
- Phase 1 ($6.7 million): practice field, lighting, track
- Phase 2 ($6.5 million): field house
- Phase 3 ($3.3 million): bleachers, concessions, scoreboard, press box
Sid Richardson Gym Improvements
The Sid Richardson Gym project will provide a more dynamic game-day experience for fans, players, and coaches, both from a sound and visual perspective. This project includes upgrading the general aesthetics, bleach seating adjustments, improving the acoustics by adding sound-absorbing baffles and updating the sound system and the capabilities of the scoreboard, including technology for replays, streaming games, and improving exposure for athletic sponsorships. The impact these changes will have on our athletic program is significant. The total cost of this project is estimated at $375,000.
