The Texas Wesleyan Alumni Association is proud to announce that Abbey Reece ’16 has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Young Alumni Achievement Award. Abbey made her mark at Texas Wesleyan as a student leader, advocating for her peers and driving impactful campus initiatives.

Abbey Reece is a dedicated public servant and leader in local government. Abbey currently serves as Assistant City Manager for the City of Justin, where she has worked for the past eight years.

Abbey graduated Summa Cum Laude with Honors from Texas Wesleyan University in 2016, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. During her time at Wesleyan, she distinguished herself through academic excellence and campus leadership. She was the recipient of the prestigious Law Sone Award, participated in the Model Arab League, and was selected to study in Qatar through the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations. Abbey was also an active member of the Student Government Association throughout her undergraduate years, culminating in her election as Student Body President as a senior.

A Hatton W. Sumners Scholar at Wesleyan, Abbey continued her education with the support of the Sumners Foundation at the University of North Texas, where she earned her Master’s in Public Administration.

In her current role, Abbey balances the complex needs of a fast-growing community with fiscal responsibility, all while focusing on the professional development of her staff. She credits her time at Wesleyan as foundational to her personal and professional growth.

One of Abbey’s most cherished memories from Wesleyan is meeting her husband of nine years, Timothy, a fellow alumnus. Together, they are proud parents of two children.
