Ben Hunt ’07 to be inducted to the Texas Wesleyan Athletic Hall of Fame, Nov. 1
Ben Hunt ’07 began his basketball career as a two-year letter winner for the Stephen F. Austin State University Lumberjacks. Following SFA, Ben played his junior and senior seasons at Texas Wesleyan University. He led the Texas Wesleyan Rams to the 2006 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Division 1 national championship, scoring a career high 34 points and hitting the game winning shot.
Hunt began his professional basketball career with the Mavs Summer League team in 2006 and played for the Perth Wildcats in the National Basketball League in Australia. After his playing career, Ben moved back to Texas to become a physical education teacher and head boys’ varsity basketball coach at Uplift North Hills Preparatory School. He then went on to work for the Dallas Mavericks in 2015 and is now the youth basketball director. In this role, Ben manages all Mavs basketball academy’s programs, youth leagues, Coaches Association and the Ballkid Program.
Help celebrate Ben and his accomplishments on and off the court at the Texas Wesleyan Athletic Hall of Fame on Nov. 1 in the Martin Center.
About the Athletic Hall of Fame
The Texas Wesleyan Athletic Hall of Fame was established to recognize the successes and achievements of former athletes, coaches and other contributors to the athletic programs at Texas Wesleyan University.
The Athletic Hall of Fame is at the Martin Center on campus on Friday, Nov. 1. The reception begins at 6 p.m., followed by dinner and program at 7 p.m.
The event is open to all alumni, friends, faculty and staff, and tickets are $45 per person. Register online by Oct. 28.
