What do local produce and Texas Wesleyan have in common? The Funkytown Mindful Market!

Hosted on the first Saturday of the month on the lawn of the O’Neal-Sells Administration Building, this market brings together organic produce, small businesses, and wellness-centered experiences.

East Fort Worth contains 20 percent of the city’s population, but there is an underwhelming number of supermarkets and discount grocery stores that provide nutritious, healthy food. The Funkytown Mindful Market seeks to increase food access while also creating a welcoming space where people can exchange knowledge and discover new approaches to health. It recognizes that health is not a one-size-fits-all journey and aims to expose visitors to a wide range of perspectives and resources.

Vendors at the market are primarily small businesses whose missions align with mindful living. Produce farmers grow their crops locally without harmful chemicals to preserve the flavor and nutrients. There are also individuals and organizations offering services or products that encourage balance, wellness, and intentional living. In addition to the shopping, Participants can enjoy live cooking demonstrations, yoga, live music, and children’s activities.

Market manager Ashley Muñoz shares that “alumni can support the Mindful Market by visiting, promoting, sponsoring or volunteering.” Continued support helps the market grow and expand its impact throughout East Fort Worth. Her invitation is extended to you: "The next market is on Saturday, June 6th. Come out to campus and support our community!”
