The House that Ram Pride Built: The Baker-Martin Alumni House Campaign

Rams, it's time for us to make our mark. We have an amazing opportunity to transform one of the most beautiful buildings on campus into a space dedicated to Alumni and connection. Read more about this exciting project and how you can help us make it a reality!
Built in 1928 by the grandfather of Trustee Lou Baker Martin, the Baker Martin House was generously donated to Texas Wesleyan by Lou in 1996. Over the years, it has housed various departments on campus, and now plans are underway to transform this historic residence into the Baker-Martin Alumni House.
What's the plan?
Our vision is to transform the Baker-Martin house into a home for Texas Wesleyan alumni. The first floor of the home will be a space open for alumni to visit and would be an event space for evenings and weekends. The Alumni Relations staff will relocate to the second floor, where there is room for offices, a conference room and space to store alumni merchandise and event equipment. This move would allow a designated space on campus for alumni and students (pre-alumni!), a place to meet with donors and develop relationships, and would provide another much-needed event space on campus. The goal is to have the home up and running by homecoming this fall!
What does this mean for me?
The space will provide more opportunities for alumni to reconnect and network, and is perfectly positioned to be “tailgate central” when athletic events are held at the Karen Cramer Stadium! It will be a perfect place for small groups on campus to engage alumni and connect their network with current students in their area. In short, this space will be a place of connection and welcome for all Rams, anytime.
To make this dream a reality, we need your support. Your donations will fund the renovations and furnishings needed to create a welcoming space unlike anything else on campus. Thanks to the generous lead donations from trustee Louella Baker Martin HON '03 and alumnas Lia Albizo '93 and Sarah Croft '77, we are close to our goal. We need $30,000 to finish the project, and we are asking you, our alumni and friends, to help us reach this goal by July 1.
The more alumni that participate, the better. ALL donors will get special recognition in the house for their contribution and will have special early access to the house.
Help us bring the vision of a dedicated alumni space to life. Yor support will create a welcoming place for generations of rams to come. Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. Let's show how the power of Texas Wesleyan Rams can make things happen for today and for the future. today!
