Our "Smaller. Smarter." university is making a big impact on its students. Mark your calendar for North Texas Giving Day on Sept. 14 and help us make a mark on every Ram that steps foot on our campus.

Take a look at music student Luis Calderón's story and see why he chose Texas Wesleyan. Luis will graduate at the end of the Spring 2018 semester with his B.A. in Music.

Luis's Story

Why Texas Wesleyan?

"I chose Texas Wesleyan because it offered me more than just the financial help I needed to pursue my studies. When I came to my music audition, I was expecting it to be a systematic process where I auditioned and waited for an acceptance letter. However, after my audition, the professors asked me to sit and speak with them. To my surprise, they asked me questions about myself in way that showed that they were genuinely interested in me. The way TXWES invests in its students is something that I admired."

"I realized that what made this place so special was more than just being accepted into the Department of Music or the university. It was being accepted in the community and included into our 'Ramily.'"

What do you like most about TXWES?

"I enjoy the positive interactions I've had since I started attending in Fall 2015. My memories of Texas Wesleyan revolve around experiences with my friends, conversations with my professors and events hosted on campus to enhance the student life."

How has Texas Wesleyan had a positive influence in your life?

"My on-campus jobs have shaped me to become the confident leader I am today. I've been a resident assitant (RA), head orientation leader, student employee and an ambassador to the president. Texas Wesleyan has taught me many things, but nothing short of striving for better and expressing a more profound compassion for others."
