Senior Elena Maldonado, one of this year’s Alumni Association Scholarship recipients, has loved her time at Texas Wesleyan. She’s been very involved on campus as the media group director for The Rambler and also volunteers at the yearly Expanding Your Horizons workshop which exposes middle school girls to careers in STEM.
Here are some more fun facts about Elena:
Q: What do you love about Texas Wesleyan?
A: Texas Wesleyan has so much to offer. I love how I get personalized attention from my each of my professors. You don’t have to belong to an organization or sports team to feel welcomed, because the small campus creates a sense of community and belonging. Any campus event you attend, there will always be a friendly face that will make you feel comfortable. Another reason I love Texas Wesleyan is because I have been able to make connections and relationships that I would have had trouble making at a larger university.
Q: What’s your major and what do you want to do with it when you graduate?
A: I am a mass communication major and I plan on working in creative development for an advertising agency after I graduate this May!
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: In my free time, I love to write and create cool graphics and videos. But my favorite thing to do is manage my Australian shepherd’s Instagram account. By doing this, I have been able to put my creativity to work in a fun way! It’s also a great way to relax from school work without having to stop being creative.
Each year, the Alumni Association is committed to recruiting and retaining quality legacy students by providing financial assistance to those who demonstrate leadership, involvement and academic excellence.
