Overview
Canvas Mods is a Chrome extension that adds new features, buttons, reports and more to Canvas! This extension is an add-on program vetted by IT that adds functionality without changing Canvas itself.
Check out these slides and the demo recording below with Jessie!
Additional Feature:
One feature accidentally left out of the demo video is the "Used for Grading" label on rubrics! Those who use rubrics are familiar with the hassle of remembering to click Edit on a rubric and check the "Use for grading" box. In Canvas, looking at the assignment or rubric doesn't tell you if you've forgotten to click that box!
That's where Canvas Mods comes in! In the screenshot below, the red arrow points to the rubric's NEW "Used for Grading" label. If you don't see this label, you'll know that you still need to edit and check that grading box.

TurnItIn is now completely integrated into our LMS! All you have to do is enable it on any assignment where students are turning in files, and you can check the originality information straight from SpeedGrader.
If you have previously been using TurnItIn, and would like to continue grading assignments through TurnItIn rather than in Canvas's SpeedGrader, please contact us for instructions to create alternate assignments.

TII Tips
Issue: Students are not able to see feedback when the instructor used Feedback Studio.
Resolution:
1)The Feedback Release Date needs to be after the Start Date and before the Due Date. This can be corrected by opening the assignment, clicking on the gear (setting) and adjusting the date.
2)An “Until Date” was created. This can be corrected by going to Canvas>Assignments and clicking the three notes in line with the assignment. Click Edit>More Options and clear out the field for “Until Date.”
If you have any "TII Tips" or issues that are unique (and possibly not in the Turnitin Guides), send it to CETL to include here.

What is Perusall?
Perusall is a tool that allows students and instructors to collaborate on reading materials by annotating, commenting on and discussing readings, books, articles, web pages, videos, podcasts and images. While working in groups and collaborating, students can take notes and answer each other's questions directly within the text. Instructors can create assignments and groups for students to work on together. This increases the level of engagement by allowing students to interact more deeply with course materials, increase collaboration and create a classroom community. Instructors can use the Analytics feature to access statistics about student engagement.
Connecting to Perusall in Canvas
In order to use Perusall (and other third party apps), you need to connect and activate the app within the Canvas course. If you need assistance on this task, visit this page: Connecting to Perusall in Canvas

Syncing Perusall Assignments with Canvas
From the Perusall Support site, accessed September 30, 2022:
- In Perusall, set the Grade sync to LMS field (Settings > General) to Automatically sync students' individual assignment scores back to the LMS
- In Perusall, click: Course home > Assignments > select an assignment > Copy full title for LMS. The assignment name will be copied to the clipboard
- In Canvas, click Assignments > +Assignment. Paste the assignment’s title into the Assignment name field.
- The number in the Points field should match the high end of the Assignment score range of your Perusall course (which is by default 0-3 and found in Settings > Advanced) > Choose External Tool from the Submission Type dropdown menu > Choose Perusall as the External Tool > Check off load this tool in a new tab
- Click Save & Publish.
