West Library’s Annual Christmas Tree Decorating Contest kicks of Nov. 1, and this year we have 90 free trees available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Pick up your free mini-Christmas tree at the Circulation Desk Nov. 1-14, and bring it back with your themed decorations by Nov. 20 to display and decorate the stacks.

This year’s decoration categories are:

  • Traditional Christmas
  • Wesleyan Tradition
  • Non-Traditional

Trees will be on display in the West Library Reference area until Dec. 2. Judging will take place by three independent judges. All trees will remain anonymous until the winners are announced at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 1.

Is there a prize for winning? You betcha! Two prizes will be awarded in each category and a special prize for the overall most creative tree.

You may pick up your tree Dec. 2-3, or you may donate your tree to be purchased. Donated trees will be sold in a silent auction which will run from 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, through Thursday, Dec. 3 at 1 p.m. Each tree will have a beginning bid of $10. All proceeds will go to Tarrant County Meals On Wheels.

Silent Auction winners will be notified by phone and/or email. Any tree not paid for by Monday, Dec. 7, at 1 p.m. will be re-awarded to the next highest bidder.
