I'm Looking For a Grant

Introduction

You have a project that needs funding. We’re here to help. The Sponsored Programs and Foundation Relations office can help turn your idea into something real.

Step 1: Determine Your Funding Source

You may have a funding source in mind. If you do, continue on to Step 2. If not, then contact the Sponsored Programs and Foundation Relations Office. We are glad to help you search for a potential funding source.

If no suitable source was found, then your project will remain in the SPFR queue until one can be found. It is also possible that your project does not align with any funders. If that's the case, your project may not be the tweaked. We can help with that.

Step 2: Alignment

Come visit us and we’ll sit down and fill out a Grant Proposal Information Form (GPIF) and a Budget Worksheet. Then we’ll review your GPIF to make sure your project aligns with the funding source’s guidelines. If it doesn’t, we’ll work with you to adjust it or we will search for another source.

Step 3: Proposal Writing and Approval Process

We’ll work with you to put together a top-notch proposal. Once it’s ready, we’ll guide it through an approval process within Texas Wesleyan using our Grant Approval Form. We'll work on getting signatures from the follow offices:

  • Department Chair
  • Dean
  • University Advancement
  • Provost
  • President

Additionally, Sposonored Programs will route your proposal budget through the Business Office for approval.

Step 4: Proposal Submission & Awaiting a Decision

Upon approval, we will submit your proposal on your behalf and follow up on a funding decision. Keep in mind, funding decisions can take up to six months. If a date is given for a decision and that date passes, we will follow up.

Step 5: Decision Made

If funding was approved, then congrats! We’ll work together on the next steps.

If funding was not approved, then we’ll reach out to the funding source for feedback, if appropriate. After that, we’ll head back to Step 1 and work to find another potential funding source.
