Your college experience shouldn’t just be attending classes, doing homework and studying for tests. Go beyond the classroom this semester by joining clubs and organizations and checking out events on campus.
And because we’re a small campus, you’ll have even more opportunities to become a leader too. Not to mention, getting involved increases your potential to get hired after graduation. Check out some of the ways you can get involved this semester — and make some new friends along the way.
Did you know we have over 50 clubs and organizations that you could join? From unique interest groups, like the Comic Book Club, to leadership opportunities like the Student Government Association and the Leadership Certificate Program.
Texas Wesleyan has also been recognized as one of the most diverse campuses in Texas, with minority groups making up over half of the student population. We offer cultural and diversity groups like the Asian Student Association (ASA), the Black Student Association (BSA), the Latinx Student Association (LSA) and the Gay-Straight Alliance to give students a way to share their culture with the RAMily and a safe place for them to be heard and connected.
We also offer religious groups, like Connect College Ministry and Spiritual Life. It’s a way for students to grow their faith while also creating a community that fosters compassion and respect for others.
Check out RamSpace for a full list of student clubs and organizations on campus.
There’s no shortage of fun on our campus! Many student groups and departments have events planned all semester long. You can join in things like gaming truck visits that allow you to play on a variety of consoles, movie, board game and trivia nights, crafting events and free lunches and brunches.
See the full schedule of events on RamSpace or stop by the Student Affairs office on the second floor of the Martin Center for all the details. (There’s free food and gift cards to be won, so you won’t want to miss out!)
Check the website of your major and discover ways you can get involved. For example, mass communication students could work for the student media group; sociology students can head up the sociology club; and business students can get hands-on with small businesses in the area. Many clubs don’t limit their members to only students in their majors, so browse around other majors and find organizations that fit your interests! And don’t forget to check out the honors organizations, too. (Talk about a resume boost!)
It’s fall sports season! That means soccer, football, volleyball, golf and cross country are starting up in August and September. Grab your best TXWES fit and head out to a game or meet to cheer on your RAMily. Don’t forget, students get into home games for free with their TXWES ID. (If you don’t have your ID yet, you can grab one from the West Library.)
Theatre Wesleyan is one of the jewels on campus. It’s the only theatre in the DFW area with over 65 years of shows and productions! Each semester, students and faculty put on shows for the community. (And students may even get free tickets to some of the productions!)
Past performances have included Oh, What a Night!, an outdoor rock musical-inspired concert, Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Portraits in Black and more.
Keep an eye on the box office page and Theatre Wesleyan’s Facebook page for details about upcoming performances.
Getting involved and active on campus is the best way to build your resume and make friends and memories that will last a lifetime. Don’t be shy — your RAMily is here to support you!
