Texas Wesleyan Celebrates Lunar New Year with Festive Events
As Lunar New Year celebrations are underway, Student Diversity and Inclusion Programs is excited to announce a series of celebratory events to honor this vibrant cultural tradition. From February 9 to February 23, students are invited to participate in various festivities taking place around campus.
One of the highlights of the celebration is the installation of a Wishing Well, located in the Martin Center, where students can hang wishes to usher in the new year. This symbolic gesture embodies the spirit of hope and positivity that Lunar New Year represents. Meanwhile, the West Library will feature a curated book display showcasing literature related to Lunar New Year and works by Asian authors, providing an opportunity for cultural exploration and appreciation. On February 13, from 12:30-1:30 p.m., join us on the first floor of the Martin Center for a lively Lunar New Year celebration. Collaborating with the Asian Student Association, and Campus Connect Ministries, the event promises an array of fun activities, giveaways, and live music, creating an immersive experience for all attendees. Continuing the festivities, on February 21, Student Diversity and Inclusion Programs presents Lunar New Year Trivia as part of our DiversiTea series. Attendees can test their knowledge, indulge in traditional tea, and engage in enriching discussions about Lunar New Year. In partnership with the Asian Student Association, the Makers Lab invites you to participate in a Lantern Workshop, paying homage to the Lunar New Year and celebrating the Lantern Festival. This will be held on February 22, from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
