On Sept. 12, KDFW – Fox 4 turned to Cary Adkinson, Ph.D., associate professor of criminal justice, for his expert opinion on Arlington Police’s decision to expand its hate and bias crime reporting policy to include “hate incidents.”

“I definitely understand first amendment rights, but it allows us to at least document and track information,” Adkinson told reporter Dionne Anglin. “So, if a person does make an inflammatory statement or does things that suggest they may be capable of doing violence in our community, then we have record of that.”
