Dr. Brenda Taylor Matthews participated in the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History's seminar on “The 20th Century Presidency” at Stanford University’s Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Center in Washington, D.C. July 23-27.
Led by Dr. Robert Dallek, emeritus professor of history at the University of California, Los Angeles, the seminar focused on the characteristics of presidential leadership in the 20th century through the examples of Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, and Lyndon Johnson.
Dr. Matthews, the A. M. Pate Chair of History at Texas Wesleyan, regularly teaches courses dealing with issues in 20th century U.S. history. She was one of only 25 participants selected by competitive nomination.
