Down in Mississippi

Down in Mississippi by Carlyle Brown is a celebration of a movement that gave birth to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Three college students — a Black man, a white woman and a white man — travel to the dangerous world of Mississippi in 1964 to register Black voters. Along the way, they discover that before they can change the world, they will have to change themselves.

Wonder of the World

From the writer of "Shrek: The Musical" and the movies "Robots" and "Rise of the Guardians" ... a comedy that's a wild ride and a barrel of laughs! Wonder of the World by David Lindsay-Abaire follows the exploits of Cass as she flees from her troubled marriage in a frantic search for the life she thinks she missed out on. We join Cass as she heads to the natural wonder of the world — Niagara Falls — crossing paths with a shipload of nutty characters. Does all of the comedic chaos push Cass over the water's edge ... literally?

The Cripple of Inishmaan

The Cripple of Inishmaan is directed, designed and performed entirely by Texas Wesleyan students. This dark comedy by Martin McDonagh is set on the sparsely populated island of Inishmaan, Ireland in 1934 and follows the tale of a young handicapped man named Billy as he tries to escape the everyday bullying and mundane life of his small village. When he finds out that a Hollywood film crew is producing a movie on a nearby island, Billy seizes the opportunity to get away and change his life — but everything is not exactly how he dreamed it would be.

Bat Boy: The Musical

Theatre Wesleyan's 68th Spring Musical

Bat Boy: The Musical, with book by Keythe Farley & Brian Flemming and music & lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe, is a Rock Musical Comedy/Horror show based on a 1992 Weekly World News story about a half-boy/half-bat who grew up living in an isolated cave in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia. When he’s discovered by a group of spelunkers, the local sheriff brings Bat Boy to the home of the town veterinarian where he is eventually accepted as a member of the family. Taught to act like a human boy by the vet’s wife and teenage daughter, Bat Boy is happy with his new life. But when he naively tries to fit in with the narrow-minded people of the town, they turn on him.
