Finance club kicks off first meeting with guest speaker
Dr. Wu, associate professor and co-founder of the Finance Club, defines the club as a medium used to help students understand the financial topics and provide networking for potential employment.
The club provides guest speakers with a platform to present their company and potential internship opportunities to students. Allowing students to gain insight on how the material learned in the class is put into action in the financial industry.
On Tuesday, Sept. 5, Fidelity Investments had the honor of providing the club with their first guest speaker, Mark Pallum. Fidelity Investments is a multinational financial services corporation. According to their website, Fidelity Investments is known for bringing sophisticated technology and highly personalized service together to offer clearing, custody, investment products, brokerage, and trading services to a wide range of financial firms.
In his presentation, Pallum introduced Fidelity, the benefits of working for the company, and position available for students.
President of the Finance Club, Victoria Gallegos, hopes to “build a strong base” of members by bringing a new guest, with a background in the finance industry, to the club’s monthly meetings. Students of all majors are encouraged to come and attend the beneficial meetings.
