The Texas Wesleyan University Alumni Association is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2021 Young Alumnus Achievement Award, Michael Clements ’10. This honor is awarded to an undergraduate alumnus or alumna within ten years of graduation to recognize outstanding personal or professional achievement.
Michael Clements Jr. grew up in the piney woods of East Texas. He is an entrepreneur with over a decade of experience in building and upscaling businesses. After graduating from Texas Wesleyan in 2010 with a business degree, Michael joined forces with his father at Energy Weldfab.
After three years of working at Energy Weldfab (and a failed attempt at playing professional golf), Michael laid the foundation of PDQ Trucking – a company focused on delivering flatbed and oversized hauling services. Three years later, PDQ Trucking became PDQ America as the company switched its focus to offering a full range of logistics services. In the same year, he also formulated Texas Semitrailers to lease open-deck trailers to small fleets and owner/operators around the state.
Michael hosts a weekly podcast, “Trucking for Millennials” and is a former member of the Texas Wesleyan Golf Team and Lambda Kappa Kappa Fraternity. He is passionate about community service and serves as a volunteer on numerous boards including, the Mid-American Christian University Board of Trustees, Texas Wesleyan Presidential Advisory Board, Longview Chamber of Commerce, Greater Longview United Way and The Martin House Child Advocacy Center. Michael is also the Chairman of the East Texas Chapter API and Vice President of the Kilgore College Foundation.
Michael lives in Longview, Texas, along with his loving wife Katelyn and three dogs, Molly, Chi (Shy), and Benny. He is an avid golfer and he also enjoys playing fantasy sports, exploring cool places, and traveling with his loved ones.
Each year, Texas Wesleyan University honors distinguished alumni and friends. Their achievements and contributions are amazing reflections of the University, and we are honored to celebrate and recognize them each year. This year’s Alumni Medal Dinner will be held at the Martin Center on campus on Friday, Oct. 29. The reception begins at 6 p.m., followed by dinner and program at 7 p.m.
The event is open to all alumni, friends and faculty and staff, and tickets are $65 per person. Register online by Oct. 18 to reserve your seat, and be sure to register for other homecoming weekend activities as well.
