Texas Wesleyan is launching a new series of Web videos that combines humor, animation and faculty interviews to explain the value of its undergraduate majors and degree offerings to potential students.

Twenty-seven new major videos will roll out in phases on txwes.edu and will be promoted through direct mail marketing, digital marketing and social media (watch for #MajorMonday starting Oct. 19).

"Smaller. Smarter." starts with professors

"Professors are the stars of the videos because they are the heart of the ‘Smaller. Smarter.’ experience," Darren White, associate vice president for marketing and communications, said. "There is no better way to describe a major than by going directly to the source."

White says the videos are created to give potential students answers to real questions about choosing a major, while giving them a chance to "meet" the professors — all while being entertained.

"We know that to keep the attention of our web visitors, we have to be entertaining and informative," White said. "These videos entertain, inform and show off our greatest marketing asset — our professors."

Txwes.edu is growing, and so are video views

More people are visiting txwes.edu now than ever. Over the last year, the total number of sessions on txwes.edu has increased more than 15 percent.

John Veilleux, vice president for marketing and communications, attributes the growth to key factors such as the launch of the mobile responsive website, increased video content, a focus on design and user experience, digital marketing and the overall growth in awareness of Texas Wesleyan.

"Video adds value to the overall user experience of a website," Veilleux said. "Our videos have had more than 65,500 views in the last year."

#MajorMonday

The majors videos will be promoted on the University’s social media pages using the hashtag #MajorMonday. Follow Texas Wesleyan on Facebook and Twitter to catch the next video release.
