Elizabeth A. M. Howard named director of West Library

After serving as the interim director for the 2015-2016 academic year, Elizabeth A. M. Howard has been named director of the Eunice and James L. West Library.

Howard will foster the library’s collaborative relationships with the University, the state and library organizations. Prior to this position, she was the digital repository and electronic collections librarian. Howard has been with Wesleyan since 2010 and was honored in the inaugural staff recognition ceremony at Texas Wesleyan in 2014.

"Elizabeth is a dedicated, energetic librarian who loves to learn. Her expertise in digital information resources, one of the fastest growing areas in library science, is a valuable asset to Texas Wesleyan." Allen Henderson, provost and senior vice president, said. "Her strong leadership qualities and collaborative approach to working with staff and faculty make her an outstanding new director of the West Library."

About Howard

She received her bachelor’s degree in three years at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Ariz. as an anthropology major with an emphasis in near eastern studies and a minor in geology.

Howard attained her Master of Science in Library Science at the University of North Texas in Denton where she was initiated into Beta Phi Mu, the international honor society of library and information professionals, and Phi Kappa Phi, who recognizes excellence in academic disciplines.

She is currently chair of the Disaster Relief Committee in the Texas Library Association. She is also the parliamentarian and governance chair of New Members Round Table with the American Library Association.
