Careers in management: Where your BBA can take you

Did you know that a management degree is one of the most versatile degrees? Whether you’re tasked with managing people, communications or technology, going down the path of management can lead you to a successful and fulfilling career. Check out just a couple of the positions you can pursue after completing your BBA in management.

Communications Manager

If you consider yourself an effective communicator – both in verbal and written communication – then a role as a communications manager is a great option. Among other things, you’ll determine your company’s key audiences and determine the best ways to address and motivate them. If you’re more of a visual communicator, you may also be able to design and edit publications, like print materials and web content.

Information Systems Manager

If you’re following a career path into information technology and systems management, a business management degree can take you further. Project management and leadership skills will help you implement you and your team’s innovations. You’ll lead activities in fields like data processing and computer programming. You’ll also be the point person in reviewing employees’ computer-related work.

City or County Manager

Leave your mark on a community by becoming a city or county manager. Combined with a background in government and public administration, a management degree will prepare you to lead work teams, manage budgets and projects and develop strategies for growth. You’ll work with government officials, neighbors, maybe even lawyers and scientists to address issues on land use. You’ll review plans for land use and recommend whether some projects should move forward rather than others. It’s a chance to shape a city’s future for the better.

A strong background in management will take you far in your career – no matter the path. In fact, it is hard to find an occupation that wouldn’t benefit from a BBA. Project management, conflict resolution and leadership are just a few of the classes you’ll take – subjects that are critical for managers to excel in.
