We're a "Smaller. Smarter." history program that not only offers diverse courses and small classes but through one-on-one advising, we give students the attention they need to thrive. It's what makes our program stand out in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Our professors are committed to teaching a broad range of courses from different time periods and around the world. Each class introduces you to historical thinking to develop informed citizens and inform many different career options.
While some history majors do go on to teach on the secondary or college level, many do not. As you learn to investigate the past, the skills you'll develop in the program — research, critical thinking, communication, organization and management as well as prediction — will equip you for a variety of sought-after positions across the employment spectrum.
We offer both a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Arts with secondary teaching certification. For students who already have a major, a history minor is a great addition to most other programs and areas of study.
A BA in history is a definite career starter! For more information about career options for history graduates, visit the American Historical Association.
