Grants

A grant is a financial award, often, but not always, from a federal or government agency. You apply for grants when you fill out the FAFSA. Generally, grants do not have to be repaid.

 
Federal Pell Grant (PELL)

How much is it?

Based upon your expected family contribution (EFC), you may receive up to $7,395 per academic year

Who is eligible?

Low-income undergraduate students based on FAFSA results

Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (SEOG)

How much is it?

You may receive up to $1,500 per academic year

Who is eligible?

Enrolled full-time Pell recipients with the lowest expected family contribution (EFC) for the year have primary consideration

Texas Tuition Equalization Grant (TEG)

How much is it?

Based upon your expected family contribution (EFC), you may receive up to $5,810 per academic year

Who is eligible?

  • Texas residents
  • Not receiving an athletic scholarship or athletic room grant
  • Religion majors are not eligible for this grant
EC-6 Bilingual Teacher Grant

About the grant

Under the National Professional Development Program (NPD), Texas Wesleyan University has been awarded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of English Language Acquisition (OELA) $2.4 million for five years to train bilingual educators. Through the NPD program, grants are available to transfer students who want to get a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood through 6th Grade Bilingual (EC-6).

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Get admitted to Texas Wesleyan as a transfer student (only transfer students are eligible for this grant)
  2. Declare as an EC-6 Bilingual Education Major and be accepted to the TEP/Bilingual Education Program
  3. Have an overall 2.5 GPA, as well as a 2.5 GPA across education coursework
  4. Contact Dr. Martinez, dean of the School of Education, for the application and deadlines to submit the application
Noyce - Preparing STEM leaders in education

The Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program provides funding to institutions of higher education to provide scholarships, stipends and programmatic support to recruit and prepare STEM majors and professional to become K-12 teachers. The program seeks to increase the number of K-12 teachers with strong STEM content knowledge who teach in high-need school districts.

 
Up to $46,800 in scholarships are available for students completing STEM teacher certification requirements as an undergraduate at Texas Wesleyan University.
