Artist Statement and Bio
Molly Dierks' Somewhere There Is An Island looks at how commercialism, industry and advancing technologies have changed the ecology of interconnectedness – including human love and intimacy. Sensuous and alien, the drawings and sculptures ask how technology both creates distance and elicits serendipitous connections from that which is borrowed, used, discarded or found to create new material lovers. Here is a short YouTube video of the artist Molly Dierks talking about her art and creative process.
