Bomb Threat Checklist

If you receive a call about a bomb threat, take notes using these guidelines. Remember — when you're on the phone

• Stay calm
• Keep the caller on the phone
• Be courteous and don't interrupt
• Get someone else to call 911

About the Call

• Date
• Time of call
• Time call ended
• Exact wording of the threat
• Were there any background sounds?

About the Bomb

• Where is it?
• What does it look like?
• When is it going to explode?
• What will cause it to explode

About the Caller

• Approximate age
• Male or female?
• Name/what you should call him/her
• Is the voice familiar?
• Voice characteristics, i.e.:
  • Accent
  • Mood/tone
  • Disguised
  • Nasal, raspy, etc.

About the Threat

• How did it sound?
  • Incoherent
  • Irrational
  • Message Read o Profane
  • Taped
  • Well-spoken
