Fire & Smoke

  1. Rescue people from the fire/smoke area if possible. Do not put yourself in harm's way.
  2. Alert others by activating the alarm system if available (activate the nearest pull station then call 911 or 9-911 from an on-campus phone).
  3. Confine fire/smoke by closing all doors. Check if fire exits are clear.
  4. Extinguish or Evacuate. If you have been trained and can do so safely, retrieve the nearest fire extinguisher and attempt to extinguish the fire. Evacuate the building as soon as possible.

Do not use the elevators during a fire or drill.

University employees are not required to render aid. First aid is rendered on a "Good Samaritan" basis.
