Dr. Ilka Araújo at the XII International Meeting of Piracicaba Piano Teachers!
It is with great pleasure that we announce Profa's participation, Dr. Ilka Araújo at the XII International Meeting of Piracicaba Piano Teachers!
For the first time, Dr. Ilka Araújo will integrate the faculty of Encounter as a pianist and teacher, sharing her vast artistic, academic and pedagogical experience with our participants.
Internationally recognized, Ilka Araújo is the winner of various piano contests in Brazil and the United States, having performed and given masterclasses in countries such as Brazil, France, Germany, the Czech Republic and the United States. She is a Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Music at Texas Wesleyan University (USA), where she leads the areas of Piano and Music History.
Prominent musicologist, his research is especially devoted to Brazilian music, piano pedagogy and the work of important composers such as Heitor Villa-Lobos, Liduino Pitombeira and Marlos Nobre. Throughout his career, he received significant recognitions, including the Steinway & Sons Top Teacher Award and the Texas Music Teachers Association Collegiate Teaching Achievement Award (2026).
Her performance as a pianist, researcher, and educator inspires musicians in different countries, and it will be an honor to host her in Piracicaba in this edition of the Encounter.
